How to get to Trieste

Do you come by plane?
Trieste Airport (Ronchi dei Legionari) is 33 km away from the city. There are regular daily flights to the major Italian cities (Milan, Rome), as well as to Paris, Munich, London, ect. Public Transport company APT operates bus and coach shuttle services connecting the airport to the main cities in the region: GORIZIA: Coach 1 and other services in connection with Coach 51; MONFALCONE: Bus 10; UDINE: Coach 51 (also non-stop via motorway); TRIESTE: Coach 51.
Updated schedules and fares are available on APT Gorizia.
Tickets can be purchased at city bus/coach station or at the airport:
- in the Arrivals Hall, with an automatic machine for self ticketing
- in the Departures Hall, at the Tourist Information desk (Turismo FVG)
Once in Trieste, at the Coach Station, bus and coach connections to Slovenia (Buje, Izola, Koper, Ljubljana, Piran, Portorož, Postojna, Sežana) and Croatia (Dubrovnik, Porec, Pula, Opatija, Rijeka, Rovinj, Split, Zadar) are available. NEW!!! "SCIENCE BUS" airport shuttle (from September 1th 2009)
A new shuttle service connecting Trieste to the main airports: Ronchi dei Legionari, Ljubljana Brnik, Venice and Treviso.
Return trip to/from Trieste to/from the airports are available upon reservation.
On-line Reservation must be made at least 2 days before departure/arrival no later that 4 p.m. (local time).

Do you come by train?
Trieste is well connected with other italian cities (Milan, Rome, Venice, etc) and also with european cities (i.e. Budapest). The railway station is in the city centre. Opposite the railway station you can easily take a bus. Bus tickets can be purchased inside the railway station at the tabacconost's shops. For more information about train timetables, please visit Trenitalia.

Do you come by car? 
Take the A4 highway from Venice-Mestre, or the A23 highway from Tarvisio-Austria and exit at Lisert. Follow signs for Sistiana-Strada Costiera, then take route SS 14, a panoramic road leading directly to the city centre (km. 18). Alternatively, take the Prosecco exit (immediately after the tunnel) and continue towards Villa Opicina. At the roundabout turn right and continue downhill to Trieste.

Where to park your car in Trieste?
In the city centre, there are many metered parking spaces between 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m., Monday to Saturday. Prepaid cards are available. Indoor parking facilities can be found at:
