What do you need to buy a car in Italy?
If you want to buy a new car or a second hand car in Italy,
you have to be resident in Italy. Moreover, in
this case, according to the Italian Law, you have to
register the conveyance and to update your plating
certificate.
Please, be aware that you must register the conveyance within 60
days from the date of signature validation of the bill of sale.

What do you need to bring your car in Italy?
Here follows the documents necessary to
register a car already registered abroad:
- registration documents duly cancelled to export (with specific
translation);
- technical data matching EC regulations provided by foreign
authority or by the representative in Italy of the car
manufacturer.
If the vehicle is a car or a motorcycle from EC and if it is
up-to-date with the overhaul, then it is not necessary to test
it.
The registration with Italian plate is mandatory if you have the
residence in Italy and in that case you have 12 months for
up-dating your driving licence and your car documents.
You must bring the mentioned documents to Motorizzazione
Civile of Trieste.
