To monitor the attractiveness of the Friuli Venezia Giulia
regional scientific system the Coordination Network of research
centres operating in Friuli Venezia Giulia (CER) promotes every
year a survey on mobility flows of foreign students,
researchers and scientists carrying out their activities within the
regional research centres either permanently or
temporally.
The 'Mobility of Knowledge' survey is also aimed at
identifying and share good practices in human resources
development and in the mobility management (i.e. Welcome Office FVG and TALENTS Fellowship Programme),
providing a complete picture of international scientific potential
of the region too.
Started in 2005, the 'Mobility of Knowledge' survey sees this
year its sixth edition. The 2011 edition, analysing the
2009/2010 academic year for universities and the 2010 calendar year
for research centres respectively, presents some new
elements when compared to the previous ones, both as concerns
contents and structure of the questionnaire. This year 28
institutions participated and for the first time the National
Committee for the Evaluation of the University System (CNVSU) have
cooperated to carried out the survey.
To sum up, in 2010 13.564 foreign students and
researchers have chosen one of the regional institutions.
Among these, 3.453 are students and 10.111 are researchers.
Moreover, the collected data show that post-doc positions,
Italian and foreign employed researchers and teaching staff
permanently employed by the institutions belonging to the CER
Coordination Network, which overall amount to 8.301 units. In this
respect, it is noteworthy that the distribution is rather
homogeneous between Italians (4.178 units) and foreigners (4.123
units) from all parts of the world.
