The main goal of Welcome Office FVG is to
manage a network of joint services targeted to international
researchers and students coming to Friuli Venezia Giulia from all
over the world to study or carry out research activities.
The service, launched as a pilot scheme in May 2009 as Welcome
Office Trieste, having a scope limited to the city of Trieste and
its territory, has been extended to the entire territory of the
Friuli Venezia Giulia Region in 2010, involving the scientific and
academic institutions of Udine.
This initiative, jointly developed with CER
(the Coordination Network of the National and International
Research Centres in Friuli Venezia Giulia) and the academic
insititution and research centres of the region, aims at offering
tailored assistance and helpful information. It
informs students and researchers about the formalities to be
completed before and after their arrival in the cities of the
region with a view to improving their stay in Friuli Venezia
Giulia.
The services offered by Welcome Office FVG are delivered in
cooperation with similar facilities provided by the institutions
located in the territory.
The idea of setting up an Office focused on incoming services
for students and researchers is one of the 4 measures envisaged by
the International House
programme, an inter-sector and interdisciplinary programme
managed by AREA Science Park of Trieste aimed at improving the
mobility of qualified human resources and enhancing the
attractiveness of the regional territory.
